There’s something quite exhilarating about walking into a brand-new venue, especially one where the activity is axe throwing. The impressive new Whistle Punks in Oxford Circus is one such experience. We joined them for the opening night – we had a blast!

There are nine lanes of axe throwing available. Each lane is hosted by an encouraging “punk” / instructor who will quickly have to believing that anything is possible.  Not only are they pretty good at axe throwing themselves (they’ll show you their trick shots) they’re also amazing at helping newbie axe throwers quickly discover the thrill of seeing your axe thwacking into the target.

Each 70-minute session includes a safety briefing, technique instruction then you’ll be set off to try out your new found slinging skills in a tournament.

The lanes are suitable for up to 10 people. If your group is smaller than 10 that’s no problem you can join up with another group on a Social Lane. You know what they say, the more’s the merrier.  This “social” strategy enables Whistle Punks to host more people per session, so that more people get to enjoy the fun.

If you don’t fancy mixing then you can book an Exclusive Lane. These lanes are also available for up to 10 players – however if you’ve got less than 10 players it’ll be more expensive per person as you pay for the lane as a whole.

Not only will you discover brilliantly fun game play at Whistle Punks but they also have a full bar menu and tasty pizzas!

Once the adrenaline of the tournament has subsided you’ll be in need of food and thankfully the sourdough pizzas at Whistle Punks are good, hearty fare. Go classic with a Margherita or try one of the other five flavours on offer maybe the Vegan Gardener (Tomato, creamy mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes, kale) or the Imperia (Prosciutto cotto ham, basil pesto & creamy garlic).

A beer at Whistle Punks

To deal with the thirst they’ve got some of everything – beer, cider, wine, low alcohol and cocktails. At £8 each you can enjoy a traditional cocktail – Dark & Stormy, Negroni or Old Fashioned or go for a Whistle Punks signature. We were quite keen on the Tomahawk (Buffalo Trace Bourbon with traditional Soda Folk Cream Soda).

Whistle Punks hosts a Sunday Bottomless Brunch too. Two hours of throwing accompanied by bottomless drinks and pizza – what an epic way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon.

If you’re looking for somewhere different to host your Christmas party this year then you should check out their Christmas package.
