Puttshack Swings $60m investment to continue international growth

10th May 2021

Puttshack, pioneers in the social play sector with their high-tech indoor mini-golf partnered with sublime food, full cocktail bar and dazzling décor, have gained $60m (£43.2m) of investment. The money will be used to secure new locations as it looks to continue its expansion in the US.

With sites at White City London, Bank London and Lakeside Essex, the company opened its first US venue in Atlanta, USA in April this year, based in the popular Interlock area. Puttshack plan to open further sites in the US including Chicago in the Autumn and Miami a little later this year. They have also signed a lease for the former Gibson Guitar factory in The Gulch neighbourhood in Nashville, which they hope to open in 2023. This latest round of funding, led by British private equity firm Promethean Investments, will allow them to extend their US reach further.

The beauty of Puttshack is how they’ve made playing mini golf really easy through their innovative high-tech approach; plus they creative venues that are really funky. Their Trackaball technology does away with the classic paper and pencil, but also with cheating! As the scoring is all tracked and calculated for you it makes the game accessible for everyone.  Their venues are superb family fun during the day but in the evening, when the cocktails are flowing, they are transformed into the perfect 21+ venue.

Puttshack is just one of the concepts operated by social play giants, State of Play Hospitality, which also run, Bounce and Hijingo. Puttshack was founded by Adam Breeden and brothers Steve and Dave Jolliffe, who also developed global innovation Topgolf. This epic team is now led by CEO, Joe Vrankin, who led the launch of Topgolf in the US from 2007 to 2012.

Steven Jolliffe said: “We developed Puttshack so that golf could be fun for everyone. Even at Topgolf, you need a certain level of skill to swing a club. At Puttshack you can walk off the street with no prior golf knowledge and get a club in your hand and have fun and compete with age, physical ability and sports background taken out of the equation, with the tech to appeal to the digital generation. We hope Puttshack will redefine mini golf.”
