Ellandi Investing In Merry Hill, Dudley To Create Lifestyle Destination

21st July 2021

In late 2020 Ellandi took over the management of the Merry Hill shopping centre in Dudley, formerly owned by INTU. The centre is the eight largest in the UK, standing at over 2 million sq ft.

Ellandi brought with them significant experience, operating over 30 shopping centres across the UK, now they are investing £50 million to transform the Merry Hill centre, just outside Birmingham.

The hope is that the investment will allow for a complete overhaul of the site, transforming it into a go-to retail destination and leisure district which fully realises the potential of the waterfront location.

Alongside a stand-out retail experience, with leading brands, the plan is to enhance the leisure offer with a range of activities and attractions. As has been seen across the country, the inclusion of leisure concepts creates significant appeal for families and increases night-time footfall.  No doubt Ellani are being purposeful about the expansion of the leisure district; aiming to create a destination where families can spend the day but offers adults great places to socialise in the evening.

Mark Robinson, co-founder of Ellandi, commented, “Our plans will ensure that by 2025 Merry Hill will be the West Midland’s most vibrant family lifestyle destination, embedded at the heart of the local community.

This investment will not only enhance and complement Merry Hill’s existing retail offering, but also the range of leisure-led, non-retail and food and beverage attractions – delivering a high-quality environment in which shoppers can also spend their days socialising, relaxing and having fun.

Currently visitors to Merry Hill can enjoy 10 screens of entertainment at Odeon and Marmaland Soft Play. It’ll be exciting to see what leisure concepts take up residence at Merry Hill!
