Karen’s Diner Where Rudeness and Poor Service is Expected

18th March 2022

Feeling stroppy and looking for somewhere to vent? Then you’d be welcomed with open arms at Karen’s Diner, where guests are encouraged to go “full Karen”.

Having been incredibly successful in Australia, Karen’s Diner has opened in Sheffield and will be opening later this spring in Manchester.

At Karen’s, the immersive, theatrical restaurant, the staff will give you plenty to complain about; they’re rude, they won’t tolerate vegans and you can fully expect their customer service to be classed as ‘poor’.

But, that’s the intention. Because they want you to give as good as you get. A Karen is someone with a sense of entitlement, who is unreasonably demanding, obnoxious and belittling.  Karen’s Diner invites all ‘Karens’ to put their sass to the test against their staff, who quite simply don’t care. So, leave your manners at the door and embrace the cathartic freedom of unreasonable rudeness.

The food menu reflects the tone and expectation of the experience. Predominantly focussing on burgers (which are actually really good) you can get a kick out of their ‘I want to See the Manager’ Karen (Two Wagyu beef patties, two slices of Manager cheese, bacon, lettuce, pickles, Manager BBQ-mustard sauce) or maybe you’d prefer Karen’s Best Breast (grilled chicken breast, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, avocado & spicy mayo sauce).

They do cater for gluten free, vegetarian and vegan diets, but don’t be surprised if the waiting staff make a right drama out of it. Although, once you’ve endured the humiliation you’ll be rewarded with excellent food; either the Vegan Karen (plant based smashed patty, vegan cheese, lettuce, tomato, beetroot, avocado & vegan aioli sauce) or Ocktoberfest Karen (plant based vegan schnitzel, vegan cheese, lettuce, tomato & vegan aioli).

There’s a great diner-drinks menu with Thickshakes, Floats, Tinnies, wine, softs etc but also a great range of bespoke cocktails. I’ll be going for The 80s Karen (Spiced Rum, Coke & ice cream float).

If your name is actually Karen, you also get a free drink – so make sure you bring your ID.

Karen’s Diner in Manchester is expected to open in May 2022.
