Hollywood Bowl delighted by post-lockdown financial bounce back

Due to the Covid-19 lockdowns Hollywood Bowl were forced to close all their sites for over half of their financial year, which ended on 30th September 2021.

However, since leisure operators were able to re-open on 17th May 2021, Hollywood Bowl have seen a significant rebound. As families and friends look to reconnect and reunite after 18 months of lockdowns, loss and loneliness trading at the Hollywood Bowl family entertainment centres has been strong.

In their trading update, released at the end of their financial year, Hollywood bowl reported a 29% like-for-like revenue growth, since reopening, compared to the 2018/2019 financial year, including record levels of trading in August – up 50% on August 2019.

During the 2020/21 financial year Hollywood bowl have also refurbished three centres, invested in their Pins on Strings, scoring and CRM systems and are building two new centres – Resorts World Birmingham (Hollywood Bowl) and Puttstars in Harrow. At present the group remain on target to achieve its target of opening 14-18 new centres by 2024. Additionally, they are commencing refurbishment work at Stevenage, Basildon and Cheltenham centres.
