Animate in Preston is an exciting high-quality leisure destination, being developed as part of the Harris Quarter Investment Programme which seeks to regenerate Preston City Centre. Located where the indoor market used to be. It is hoped that the complex will open in Spring 2024.
We are delighted to hear that leading bowling operator Hollywood Bowl have signed as the first tenants for the new Animate complex. The plan is to showcase 16 lanes of computerised lanes, an arcade area and the familiar Hollywood Bowl diner and bar.
Laurence Keen, chief financial officer of Hollywood Bowl, said: “We are pleased to have secured another prime high footfall destination to enable us to continue to execute on our new centre opening strategy. We’re delighted to be bringing the Hollywood Bowl brand to Preston and to be a part of the exciting development of the Animate leisure complex.”
In addition to a funky new Hollywood Bowl the current plans also include:
We’re looking forward to finding out who will be occupying the competitive socialising space!?!?
Andrew Dewhurst, director of Maple Grove Developments, which is behind the scheme, said: “We’re delighted to have secured Hollywood Bowl as the first named operator for Animate, contributing massively to Preston’s goal of creating a thriving, sustainable city centre with an outstanding leisure and entertainment offer. We recently submitted a new planning application for the Animate scheme with Preston City Council and expect to be able to announce further lettings over the winter months.”
The development should generate £7 million in additional economic activity every year as well as create around 140 full time jobs.
Exciting times!
